World Cup - Group H decided

Spain beat Chile but both advance

David Villa scored once again as Spain beat Chile 2-1 to top Group H and avoid Brazil in the next round. The Barcelona striker's goal was a beautiful lob from 40 yards. The goalkeeper came out to clear the ball as a last defender, and while he beat the onrushing attacker, his clearance landed at Villa's feet, and he chipped in brilliantly. Spain's other goal came from Iniesta on 37 minutes. Chile pulled one back after half time when a shot deflected over Casillas, but they couldn't find an equaliser.

Meanwhile, in the other game, Switzerland could not find the winner they needed against Honduras. Having beaten Spain in their first game, Swiss limitations in terms of creativity were exposed in this game. They just about had the better of the match, but never looked like scoring. In the end, because of the result in the other game, they would have needed two goals. But if anything, it was Honduras who looked more likely to score in the closing stages.
