Spain superior in Iberian duel
David Villa was the hero for Spain once again as they beat Portugal 1-0 to advance to the quarter finals. Spain were impressive, with plenty of neat passing. Their patience was rewarded when Villa scored the winner in the 63rd minute. Portugal lacked any inventiveness and never looked like breaching a Spanish defence that was resolute. Spain will start favourites against Paraguay.
